Titan's parent company, iomart Group plc (AIM:IOM), has been named Scottish Digital Company of the Year.
The Glasgow-based managed hosting and cloud computing services company, which was recently named as one of the top 25 cloud companies in the world, scooped top prize at the Digital Technology Awards 2011 hosted by ScotlandIS, the trade body for the information and communications technologies (ICT) industry.
Angus MacSween, CEO of iomart Group plc, said: “We’re delighted with this award because it represents the increasing recognition of iomart as a leading player in the IT industry both in Scotland, the UK and beyond. Our focus has been on positioning the company to benefit from the increasing adoption of cloud computing as a service of choice and we believe we are well placed to benefit from this over the next few years. ”
Polly Purvis Executive Director of ScotlandIS said: “iomart is a great example of a Scottish company that has developed an enviable reputation for product innovation and expertise and their rate of growth is exemplary. What’s apparent with all of our award winners is the bold steps they are taking to invest in new technology, to break into new markets at home and abroad and to focus on growth, and they are certainly reaping the rewards.”
iomart beat off over a dozen IT Industry rivals to win the award, including Rocela Ltd and Amor Group.
Phil Worms, marketing director for iomart Group plc, said: “This is great recognition for the hard work that our talented staff have put in over the past few years and what’s particularly satisfying is that the award is presented by our peers within the industry. We’re now looking forward to improving on the past year’s success and contributing to a strong IT sector in Scotland in the years to come.”
iomart Group was also named runner up in the Best Growth Category and Product Innovation Category for Netintelligence, its e-safety and Parental Control cloud solution.
And at a separate event in London, iomart Hosting – a subsidiary of the iomart Group - was also named runner up in the ‘Best Storage Hosting Company’ category at the 2011 Storage Awards.
iomart Group plc was recently ranked 22nd in the world – the highest listed UK company - in the Talkin’ Cloud 50 2011 survey. The Talkin’ Cloud 50 identifies the world’s top 100 Managed Service Providers for the cloud.
